In a recent post, I quoted some verses from the New Testament on the attitude the Christian should take toward government.
Here's a text with a similar point from the Old Testament:
Ecclesiastes 10:20 Even in your thoughts, do not curse the king,
nor in your bedroom curse the rich,
for a bird of the air will carry your voice,
or some winged creature tell the matter. (ESV)
The New Testament verses, however, seem to emphasize having a right attitude toward the ruler(s) because it is the right thing to do. This points out that there may be earthly punishment for disobeying, too.

Wow, never seen this verse before. Thanks for leading me to it. To add to what you say, the Word of God commands us to "pray" for the leaders that GOD has placed over us, never to curse them or to wish them bad or even to grumble against them. When they are wrong we say they are wrong, when they go against God's Word, we "Obey God rather than men". If we have the opportunity we seek to correct them by God's guidance and to point them to wayd that are just and righteous.
